Uncle Bud’s concept was first offered to the public in May, 1980, in a converted Hillsboro Road residence in the Grassland area of Franklin, Tennessee.
During the 1980s, the concept went through several failed attempts at expansion and one change of ownership. In November, 1990, the single operation, which was then located in a custom built building on a two (2) acre lake beside Interstate 65 in Franklin, TN, was purchased by a group of veteran restaurant operators.
Simultaneously, this group improved the décor, applied strict operational standards and controls, modified recipes and implemented a proven marketing plan that increased sales substantially.
With the opening of Uncle Bud’s in Nashville in April, 1991, the expansion program began and continued until the concept was sold in October, 1995.
The new owners (1) clustered the openings of additional stores, (2) made major changes in management style, (2) added menu items, (3) expanded hours of operation, etc. until all locations were eventually closed The last known Uncle Bud’s closed in spring, 2006.
The concept was reborn with the opening of Uncle Bud’s in Tullahoma, Tennessee, in December, 2006.
